Radiator Cooling Fan Motor: Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures

Troubleshooting is in order of priority.

Only One Fan Operates

1.

Blown dash fuse No. 12 or 20.

2.

Faulty radiator fan relay.

3.

Faulty condenser fan relay.

4.

Faulty A/C diode.

5.

Faulty ground connection.

Fans Do Not Operate

1.

Blown dash fuse No. 21.

2.

Faulty coolant temperature switch.

3.

Faulty cooling fan timer unit.

4.

Poor ground connection.

Fan Timer Unit Fails

1.

Faulty engine oil temperature sensor.

2.

Faulty cooling fan timer unit.

3.

Poor ground connection.
