CONDITION

Engine check light comes on. DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) 4431 (Idle Air Control Valve) is stored (mechanical fault).

Engine stalls intermittently after vehicle comes to a stop

PRODUCTION

^

New Idle Air Control (IAC) valve added (no black protective coating), Part No.: 078 133 455B.

^

Additional cleaning steps in manufacturing intake manifold which eliminates any casting sand inside intake manifold. This assures no
contamination which could cause sticking Idle Air Control valves

NOTE

When replacing the Idle Air Control valve on V6 engines, engine code AAH, only the previous (black colored) valves are available through the Parts
Department, Part No. 077 133 455A. There is no functional difference between new and old parts.

Service

-

check and correct any engine intake air leaks,

-

assure proper throttle plate function.

-

erase DTC memory; road test vehicle for 5 miles.

-

check DTC memory using VAG 1551 Scan Tool

-

if DTC 4431 reappears, check Idle Air Control valve.
