EGR Temperature Sensor: Description and Operation

PURPOSE

The EGR temperature sensor is used as a fault detection device for California emissions equipped vehicles only. The ECM uses the signal to
determine if the EGR system is operating properly. The signal that it provides to the ECM has no influence on the exhaust gas recirculation.

OPERATION

The EGR temperature sensor is a NTC sensor, the resistance goes down as the temperature goes up.
