Knock Sensor: Service and Repair

NOTE: Knock Sensors are located under the intake manifold. They can be replaced without removing the intake manifold by using Special Tool #
3247, or a suitable long-reach 8mm allen wrench with ball end. Use of this tool is highly recommended to ensure proper mounting torque for good
sensor operation. It also makes replacement faster and easier.

Disconnect battery negative terminal before loosening or tightening the knock sensor.

Do not use any washers on the mounting bolt.

Knock sensor mounting bolt torque is critical and specifications must be strictly followed.

Be sure mounting bolt is clean and free of burrs that could affect torque values.

Be sure mounting boss on engine block is free of dirt and excess paint that could prevent good contact with the knock sensor.

MOUNTING TORQUE:  20 Nm (15 ft.lb.) 
RESISTANCE:  infinite (open circuit)
