Thermo Time Switch: Testing and Inspection
THERMO-TIME SWITCH/HOT START RELAY-CHECKING
Since the thermo-time switch contact points are designed to open at 35°C (95°F), this check can only be done with coolant temperature
below 95°F.
Remove electrical connection from cold start valve.
Bridge harness plug connection with a test light.
Ground the coil high tension wire to prevent starting.
Operate starter.
Test light should light up for several seconds and then go out if thermo-time switch is OK.
If you continue to operate the starter on a car with a hot start relay, the test light will continue to flash on and off at regular intervals.
