Heat protection plates, available for service installation, are rubber coated to help eliminate front brake pad vibration during stopping.

Install new heat protection plates for customer complaints of brake squeal or noise, using the following procedure. Assure that high temperature lubricant
is included in the installation.

4000S and Coupe GT:
Part No. 811 615 231 replaces 811 615 191

5000S and 4000S Quattro:
Part No. 443 615 231 replaces 431 615 191 B

Heat protection plates, replacing

Work sequence

-

remove front wheel

-

remove caliper without disconnecting brake hose

-

remove heat protection plate

-

push piston into caliper housing

CAUTION

With this procedure brake fluid is pushed into reservoir. To prevent overflowing siphon some fluid out with an appliance which is used for this purpose
only.
