Cause:
A.
Ball plug(s) in the oil drillings of crankshaft missing. Only engines with hydraulic lifters engine code "MG":
Oil pump, P/N 049 115 105 H, oil delivery insufficient.
B.
Control unit out of tolerance.
C.
Dynamic oil pressure switch on filter flange opens at oil pressure above upper tolerance level (2.0 bar).
D.
Oil pressure at lower end of tolerance range (2.0 bar 29 PSI at 2000 RPM engine hot).

Oil plugs secured by peening.
As of:
Engine Production Date 05/83 Oil pump with increased oil delivery. Pump gears 4 mm wider (26 mm vs. 30 mm).

Modified oil pump, P/N 026 115 105, installed. As of: March 1985
Service Solution:
A.
Inspect crankshaft. If ball plugs are missing, replace crankshaft and remove ball plugs from oil dump. Install new oil pump, P/N 026 115 105.
B.
If light and buzzer come on before 2000 RPM, replace control unit.
C.
If switch is out of tolerance, replace switch.
D.
Check engine oil pressure. Must be minimum of 2.0 bar (29 PSI) at 2000 RPM. If below, install new version oil pump, P/N 026 115 105.
(New pump gears 30 mm high, old pump gears 26 mm high.)
