    NOTE: The piston and its sleeve, in the fuel metering distributor, are machined to a tolerance of .00025", and are a matched set.  When handling these
parts it is advisable to avoid any impact or damage as the parts are not independently replaceable.

1.

Remove all fuel lines from the fuel distributor.

2.

Remove the three screws that attach the fuel distributor to the air flow meter housing, and remove the fuel distributor.

3.

Remove the control plunger as follows:

a. Measure how far the stop screw protrudes from the nut Fig. 3.
b. Remove the stop screw and detach the control plunger from it.

4.

Inspect sealing ring of the stop screw for damage, and replace as necessary.

5.

Check for gum deposits and signs of seizing.  If gum deposits are found on the piston clean it with clean gasoline.

6.

Before re-installing the control plunger, clean it with clean gasoline. (Any time the plunger is removed from its bore, it should be cleaned to
remove any airborne dust or grit that may cause scoring or seizing).

7.

Ensure that the piston does not bind inside its sleeve by sliding it back and forth while turning it.

8.

If a high spot is found, replace the fuel distributor.

9.

Install a new "O" ring.

10.

Adjust the stop screw to the height measured earlier.

11.

Reinstall the metering distributor.

12.

Re-check the sensor plate rest position and free play.
