Wheel Bearing: Adjustments

1.

Raise and support rear of vehicle.

2.

Remove grease cap and cotter pin, then while rotating wheel, tighten bearing adjusting nut until it is firmly seated against bearing.

3.

Back off adjusting nut and check wheel bearing clearance. Wheel bearing clearance is correct when bearing thrust washer can be moved slightly
with a screwdriver and finger pressure, Fig. 8.

4.

After completing adjustment, install cotter pin, grease cap and lower vehicle.
