Water Pump Replace

1.

Drain cooling system and remove timing belt covers.

2.

Rotate engine to cylinder #1 TDC and align the timing marks on the flywheel and camshaft gear with their respective reference marks.

3.

Loosen the water pump and remove the timing belt, using caution not to rotate the crankshaft or camshaft.

4.

Remove water pump.

5.

Clean mating surfaces and check the replacement water pump for a "5" stamped on the mounting flange.  Pumps with this marking must use a 5
mm sealing ring instead of the usual 4mm ring due to additional machining on the water pump.

6.

Using a new sealing ring, install the water pump and timing belt.  Ensure that all gears are in the proper position prior to assembly of remaining
components.

7.

Install timing belt covers and refill the cooling system.

8.

Start engine and bring to normal operating temperature.  Fill the cooling system to capacity with the thermostat open.

9.

Shut off the engine and pressure test the cooling system.  Repair any leaks that may be found.
