Engine Control Module: Component Tests and General Diagnostics
Voltage Supply Test

Control unit voltage supply, checking

Work sequence

-

Remove control unit cover located in footwell on passenger side of vehicle

-

Unplug control unit connector

-

Connect voltmeter between terminals 35 and 18, then 35 and 9 of control unit connector

-

Switch ignition ON

Specification: approx. 12 V at each reading

-

Switch ignition OFF

-

Connect voltmeter between terminals 32 and 9

-

Switch ignition ON

-

Apply brake pedal
^

Specification: approx. 12 V

-

Switch ignition OFF

If NO voltage reading present

-

Check for open circuit in brake light wiring according to current flow diagram

If wiring OK

-

Replace brake light switch
