The Wiesbaden stereo cassette radio is equipped with an electronic theft prevention system. Incorrect decoding of this radio will result in a permanently
inoperative condition.

If a radio displays the word "SAFE", a predetermined code has been entered into the unit and that code must be known and re-entered to regenerate the
radio's operation. The procedure to enter the code is described in the

Tech-Talk entitled "Activating or coding the Wiesbaden Radio". The theft protected radio will accept a maximum of THREE(3) coding attempts before
a lock-up condition occurs. If the power supply is interrupted, an ADDITIONAL

THREE attempts for code entry are allowed to reactivate the radio.

Thereafter, the radio will permanently display the word "SAFE". It will not accept any additional code entry attempts and must then be replaced.

Inoperative radios that display the word "SAFE" in the frequency window, can have claims processed during a familiarization period until April 15,
1988.

Prior to vehicle delivery, a new unit should be installed; thereafter, an exchange unit is the required replacement.

After April 15, 1988, radios which become inoperative as a result of incorrect operation will not be accepted for reimbursement through the AUDI
claims processing system.

Inoperative radios returned to your parts depot that display the word "SAFE" in the frequency window, must have a fully completed warranty parts tag
that has the notation, "DISPLAY SAFE" in the remarks section of the tag. If the radio is from a new, undelivered vehicle, include the notation "NEW

DEFECTIVE UNIT" in the remarks section.
