3. Apply suitable grease to contact surface of brake lever,install shoe with lever in push rod.
4. Connect upper return spring.
5. Hook parking brake cable on lever.
6. Place shoes on wheel cylinder pistons.
7. Connect adjusting wedge spring.
8. Install shoe retaining springs and retainers.
9. Install drums, then adjust wheel bearings as described in "Rear Axle and Suspension.

10. Depress brake pedal once firmly to set the rear brake shoes.

NOTE:

To inspect brake lining thickness, condition, remove plug on lower surface of backing plate.

Brakes automatically adjust as necessary during every brake pedal application. Fixed clearance between brake shoes and brake drum is set when
pressing and releasing pedal. When brake linings wear, movement of brake shoes is greater than fixed clearance. At this point adjusting wedge is
moved down further by spring tension into pushrod slot. This automatically assures proper brake shoe adjustment.
