Fuel Shut-off Solenoid: Testing and Inspection

Deceleration fuel shut-off, checking (Vehicles with manual trans. only)

Test conditions

Engine coolant temp. minimum 50°C (125°F) 

Work sequence

-

Start engine and raise engine speed to above 2000 rpm 

-

Quickly close throttle
^

Air intake boot must visibly contract

If boot DOES NOT contract

-

Unplug connector (arrow) from deceleration fuel shut-off valve

-

Connect voltmeter across terminals 1 and 2 of open connector

-

Raise engine speed to above 2000 rpm 

-

Quickly close throttle12V

Specification: approx.  

If voltage reading OK with vacuum hose attached to shut-off valve

-

Replace shut-off valve

If voltage reading NOT OK

-

Check idle switch

If idle switch OK

-

Again raise engine speed above 2000 rpm 
^

Specification: approx. 12V 

If voltage reading NOT OK

-

Check for open circuit in wiring according to current flow diagram
