Idle Speed/Throttle Actuator - Electronic: Testing and Inspection
Voltage Tests

1.

With ignition OFF, insert fuse in top of the fuel pump relay.

2.

Switch ignition ON and remove fuse after 4 seconds (DO NOT SWITCH IGNITION OFF).

3.

Re-insert the fuse in the fuel pump relay for four seconds, then remove.

Re-insert the fuse in the fuel pump relay for four seconds, then remove.

5.

Fault code indicator light should display fault 4431.

6.

Closing the full throttle switch should cause the idle control valve to cycle (click).

7.

If the valve does not cycle, disconnect the harness plug from the valve.

Self Constructed Led Test Light

7.

Connect LED tester, US 1115 (or Fig. 14), between the two terminals of the harness plug and close the full throttle switch.  Tester should light.

8.

If tester lights up, replace the idle control valve.

9.

If tester does not light up, connect a voltmeter between terminal 2 of the harness connector and ground.

10.

With the ignition ON, battery voltage should be available.

11.

If voltage is not correct, repair wiring as necessary.

12.

If voltage is OK, switch ignition OFF and disconnect harness plug from injection control unit.

13.

Check resistance between terminal 1 of the idle stabilizer harness plug, and terminal 17 of the control unit plug.

14.

If resistance is greater than 0.2 ohms, repair wiring as necessary.

15.

If resistance is OK, replace injection control unit.
