Tester (VW 1301)

-

connect tester (VW 1301) to outer contacts of fuel gauge sender connector

-

switch ignition ON

-

adjust VW 1301, as follows:

^

empty = 544, voltmeter reads 1.5V

^

full = 60, voltmeter reads 5.6V

If voltage readings are not obtained, - repair break in wiring using current flow diagram

Tolerance Ranges

Fuel gauge needle must be within tolerance ranges A and B (arrows)

A = VW 1301 at 544, voltmeter reads 1.5V B = VW 1301 at 60, voltmeter reads 5.6V

If NO, - adjust fuel gauge

If adjustment not obtainable, - check voltage supply and voltage stabilizer

If OK, - replace fuel gauge
