Tighten tool plate mounting nuts, then the spindle nut until seated.

Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel and tire assembly.

Press off tie rod end with suitable tool.

Remove caliper mounting bolts and caliper, then suspend caliper from body with wire, leaving brake lines connected.

Remove brake disc.

12.

Remove ball joint clamp bolt.

13.

Remove stabilizer bar clamps on both sides.

Remove ball joint from hub by prying down on control arm.

Using suitable tool, press out stub axle from hub and remove axle shaft. Always remove stub axle with mechanical or hydraulic hub puller. Do
not apply heat to wheel bearing housing.

Remove three tool plate attaching nuts while holding suspension strut from below.

17.

Pull strut off of driveshaft.

18.

Clamp strut in suitable vise.

19.

Pull boot off cover, then loosen spindle nut while holding spindle.

20.

Remove tool and disassemble strut.

21.

Remove threaded cap using tool 2069 or equivalent, then pull out shock absorber.

22.

Reverse procedure to assemble, noting the following: 

a. Ensure splines on CV joint and wheel hub are free of oil, grease and old locking compound.
b. Apply suitable locking compound around splines in a bead not more than 1/4 inch wide.
c. Allow locking compound to harden for at least one hour.
d. Torque threaded cap to 133 ft.lbs.
e. Torque shock absorber upper mounting nut to 44 ft.lbs., using tool 3078 or equivalent.
f.

Torque strut mounting bracket attaching bolts to 22 ft.lbs.

g. Check front wheel alignment, adjusting as necessary.
