Fuel Pressure Regulator: Description and Operation

The fuel pressure regulator, located next to the right front fender under the hood just ahead of the fuel distributor, maintains a constant fuel pressure
(system pressure - approx. 78 psi/5.4 bar) to the differential pressure regulator inlet. It also regulates the pressure to the top of the control plunger at
slightly less than system pressure (approx. 3 psi/0.2 bar below system pressure). When the engine is shut off, system pressure drops slightly until the
check valve portion of the regulator closes. This retains pressure in the system for easy starting.
