Cold Acceleration Enrichment

  In performing this test, the injection control unit needs to see a coolant temperature signal indicating less than 30°C (86°F).  If the engine is
warmer than this, a cold engine signal can be simulated by substituting a coolant temperature sensor that has been cooled down, and grounded.

1.

Connect a test harness (VW 1315A/1) between the differential pressure regulator, and the harness connector.

2.

Connect a multi-meter to the test harness.

3.

With the oxygen sensor disconnected, and the engine running at idle, differential pressure regulator current should be 1 to 3 mA.

4.

Accelerate the engine briefly.  The differential pressure regulator current should momentarily increase to a minimum of 6 mA.

5.

If current is not within specification, check the coolant temperature sensor.

6.

Differential pressure regulator current should also increase with rpm.  If the current only increases on deceleration, check the air flow sensor
potentiometer.
