Cold Start Injector: Testing and Inspection
Operational Test
Note: The engine should be cold (below 30°C/86°F) for this test. A cold condition can be simulated, if necessary, by connecting the coolant
temperature sensor harness plug and a ground connection to a substitute sensor which has been cooled.
1.
Remove coil wire from the distributor cap and connect it to ground.
2.
Remove the cold start valve from the intake manifold, and point the nozzle into a fuel safe container.
3.
Crank the engine over for 10 seconds and the cold start injector should spray for the specified period of time.

40°C (116°F) ................................................................................................................................................................................................ 0 sec.
4.
Dry the end of the nozzle off with a clean rag, or compressed air, to check the injector for leaks.
5.
The end of the injector should remain completely dry for at least 1 minute. If not, replace the injector.
