Fuel Pump Relay: Testing and Inspection

1.

Remove fuel pump relay from the relay panel (position 10), and connect a voltmeter between terminals 48 and 50 of the relay socket.  Battery
voltage should be available.

2.

With the ignition ON, battery voltage should be available between terminals 46 and 50 of the relay socket.

3.

Connect voltmeter between terminals 46 and 47 of the relay socket.  At least 7vdc should be available while cranking.

4.

If voltage is available, replace the fuel pump relay.

5.

If voltage is not available, check wiring between;

a. relay socket terminal 49 and ignition control unit plug terminal 3,
b. relay socket terminal 47 and ignition control unit plug terminal 14.
c. Resistance should be less than 0.2 ohms.

6.

If resistance is not within specification, repair wiring as necessary.

7.

If wiring is OK, replace the ignition control unit.
