Circuit Sections

To assist in troubleshooting electrical problems, this section divides the car's electrical system into separate Circuit Sections according to function. Each
Circuit Section covers one circuit-those parts of the electrical system that apply to one sub-system of the car.

To find the section that you need, identify the part of the electrical system that is most likely causing your problem, then find the Circuit Section that
applies to that part of the electrical system.

Each Circuit Section includes wiring diagrams and other useful information covering several Audi models and model years. To find the exact wiring
diagram that applies to your car, see the Contents at the beginning of each Circuit Section.

Circuit Description
A brief overview of the circuit's basic logic-how it works and what happens. It will usually describe:

the circuit's source(s) of power

what happens in the circuit for each different input or operating condition

other systems or circuits which may affect this circuit's function

Fuses and Relays
A listing of fuses and relays that are part of the particular circuit. This includes control units and other components mounted on the Main
Fuse/Relay Panel or the Auxiliary Relay Panel.

Component Locations
Illustrations of the key circuit components. This may include:

test specifications

tips on removal and installation

torque specifications

Terminal Identification
Illustrations of major components and connectors showing the individual terminals identified in the wiring diagrams.

Connector Index
An index of all wiring harness connectors identified in the wiring diagrams, and their locations.

Ground And Positive (+) Connections
An index of all ground points and welded harness connections labeled in the wiring diagrams, with illustrations of points where the wiring harness
connects to a chassis ground on the body.

Quick-Checks
Suggested simple tests that can be performed easily, usually without tools or test equipment, and can help isolate a problem and rule out possible
causes.

Troubleshooting
Step-by-step tests, based on symptoms, which follow the logic of current flow in the circuit to isolate problems and their probable causes.
