A/C Low Pressure Switch: Testing and Inspection
Time Test Method

Note:

This switch will cycle the compressor ON and OFF depending on the pressure in the refrigerant system.

A/C refrigerant low pressure switch is used to regulate interior temperature and prevent evaporator icing.

TESTING PREPARATIONS

1. Switch ignition ON.
2. Open doors.
3. Run fresh air blower for approximately 5 minutes on speed 4 to stabilize evaporator temperature.
4. Close sunroof, doors and windows.
5. Push A/C switch button ON.
6. Push fresh air/recirculation button.

Fresh air/recirculation door closes.

Indicator light ON.

7. Set temperature to full cold position.
8. Set fresh air blower speed to 4.
9. Open all instrument panel vents.

10. Adjust air distribution so all air comes only from instrument panel vents.
11. Place thermometer at air intake for heater/evaporator housing (under glove compartment).
