Shift Linkage: Adjustments
1.
Place shift lever in neutral.
2.
Remove shift knob, screw for boot, then boot.
3.
On 1992 100 models, remove front and rear crossmembers, then the catalyst heat shield.
4.
Loosen clamp bolt, then position shift lever as close to vertical as possible.
5.
Align lever so that both lugs on ball stop are at an equal distance from ball housing.
6.
Tighten bolt, then ensure lever does not move.
7.
Check function of shifter by shifting through all gears.
8.
Lever must be in the 3rd/4th shift plane in neutral.
9.
Ensure Reverse safety catch is effective. If not, loosen screws retaining ball housing, turn the ball housing slightly, then retighten screws.
10.
On 1992 100 models, install catalyst heat shield, then the front and rear crossmembers.
11.
Reinstall shift boot and retaining screw.
