Secondary Air Injection Solenoid Valve: Testing and Inspection
ELECTRICAL CHECKS
-
Disconnect Secondary Air Injection (AIR) solenoid valve -N112- harness connector.
Secondary Air Injection Solenoid Valve
-
Measure resistance between valve connector terminals using multimeter (Fluke 83 or equivalent).
^
Specified value: 25-35 ohms.
If the specified value is not obtained:
-
Replace secondary air injection solenoid valve.
CHECKING VOLTAGE SUPPLY
-
Disconnect secondary air injection solenoid valve harness connector.
2 Pin Harness Connector
-
Connect VAG 1527B voltage tester between terminal 1 (positive) of the disconnected harness connector and Ground (GND).
-
Initiate output Diagnostic Test Mode. Refer to On-Board Diagnostics. See: Computers and Control Systems/Testing and Inspection
^
Specified value: LED must light up.
If LED does not light up, perform the following tests:
-
Check secondary air injection solenoid valve fuse.
-
Check wiring for continuity between terminal 1 on connector and fuse using wiring diagram.
^
Specified value: maximum 0.5 ohms.
-
Check fuel pump relay and actuation.
CHECKING ACTUATION
2 Pin Harness Connector
-
Connect VAG 1527B voltage tester between connector terminals 1 and 2.
