Breather/Vent Valve: Testing and Inspection

PROCEDURE

Fuel Tank Unit Access Panel And Harness Connector

1.

Remove fuel tank sender cover, located under the luggage compartment trim mat and unplug connector.

Fuel And Vapor Hose Connections

2.

Disconnect Evaporative Emission Control vent line to the canister.

3.

Connect a hand pump to the vent line.

4.

Pump pressure into the vent line and observe pressure gauge.

5.

Breather/Vent Valve should release pressure at approx.

^ 4.4 psi (0.3 bar) 

6.

Allow pressure to remain in vent line for several minutes and recheck, pressure must not drop below:

^ 0.25 psi (0.017 bar) 

7.

If specified pressures are not obtained:
-

Replace breather/vent valve.

8.

Reattach vent line, electrical connector and fuel level sender cover.
