Radiator Cooling Fan Motor: Description and Operation
This vehicle use a single electric 3-speed cooling fan. The cooling fan speeds are controlled by a water temperature sensor and a refrigerant high pressure
sensor. These sensors control relays which route electric current through resistors or directly to the fan motor to control speed.
1. Low speed is only used on those models equipped with a radiator fan after run control unit. This unit is used to control under hood and water
temperature while vehicle is parked.
2. Second speed is controlled by both the low temperature section of the coolant temperature sensor and the refrigerant high pressure switch.
3. Third speed is controlled by only the high temperature side of the coolant temperature sensor.
