Replacement Driver Side Catalytic Converter

Dear Audi Dealer:

This is to inform you of the initiation of a service action involving 1993 and 1994 model front-wheel-drive Audi 90 vehicles equipped with an automatic
transmission.

Description of Condition

Audi has found that the container holding the left side catalyst of affected vehicles may have been manufactured with variances in tolerance which could
allow the substrate to come loose. Loose substrates tend to generate a loud "rattling" noise which may be audible inside the vehicle.

* B or D in the 4th position

Please note that the above VINs represent the lowest and highest serial numbers of affected vehicles. Use of the V-Crest campaign inquiry system will
allow you to determine whether or not a particular vehicle, within the above VIN range, may require the corrective work.

Note:

Audi of America, Inc. will not reimburse under this action any duplicate repair work or repair outside the VIN range.

Remedy

Replace, free of charge, any driver side catalytic converter which is reported by the owner and verified by you as "rattling".

Owner Information

Audi of America, Inc. notified, via first class mail, all known owners of affected vehicles located in the state of California in November, 1997. We will
notify, via first class mail, all known owners of affected vehicles located in the remaining 49 states on or about April 27, 1998. A copy of the letter is
included with this circular.
