Brake System Bleeding

BRAKE SYSTEM, BLEEDING

WARNING!

Brake fluid is poisonous

CAUTION!

Brake fluid must not come In contact with paintwork.Brake fluid is hygroscopic, that is, it absorbs moisture from the surrounding air.Therefore, it
must be replaced in the vehicle every two years. Stored brake fluid must be kept in airtight containers. Only use new brake fluid which meets U.S.
specification FMVSS 116 DOT 4. Do not add or mix DOT 5 silicone type brake fluid with brake fluid in vehicle. Severe component corrosion may
result. Such corrosion could lead to brake system failure. Do not re-use fluid removed from the brake fluid reservoir. Water and contaminant in the
fluid can cause brake performance problems.

EQUIPMENT REQUIRED

pressure bleeder, US 1116 or equivalent

brake fluid container with transparent hose inserted (to check expelled brake fluid for air bubbles)

VEHICLES WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSION:

If the brake master cylinder has been removed I installed, the clutch slave cylinder must be bled before bleeding the brakes.

connect US 1116, and follow manufacturer's instructions

open bleeder screws in prescribed sequence and assist bleeding process with repeated, slow, forceful pumping of the brake pedal. (Additional person
required.)

BLEEDING SEQUENCE

1 - Brake master cylinder and proportioning valve
2 - Brake caliper, right rear
3 - Brake caliper, left rear
4 - Brake caliper, right front
5 - Brake caliper, left front
6 - Brake caliper, right rear (re-bleed)

Note

On vehicles with height - sensitive brake pressure regulator, press the regulator lever (arrow) firmly towards the rear axle when bleeding the rear
brakes.

after bleeding, fill the brake fluid reservoir to the MAX mark

REPLACE SEALS ON BOTH REAR CALIPERS (INCLUDES : BLEED BRAKES)
