6. Shim spacer, method 2, is as follows:
a. Mount alignment tool to propeller shaft using .452 inch (11.5 mm) shim stock installed between front of propeller shaft and rear V-block of
tool as shown in Fig. 10. Tool must be installed with embossed arrow facing rear of vehicle.
7. Ensure white dot on rear propeller shaft flange aligned with a black dot on differential flange. If not, scribe mark on propeller shaft and differential
flanges prior to disassembly.
8. Remove propeller shaft bolts at transmission and differential, then support propeller shaft and tool and remove center support bolts.
9. Remove propeller shaft together with alignment tool. Do not bend propeller shaft. Store and transport together with tool.
10. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Propeller shaft and differential flanges must be installed so that painted marks or scribe marks are aligned.
b. Always check alignment after installation.
c. Adjust propeller shaft, refer to Transmission and Drivetrain/Drive/Propeller Shafts, Bearings and Joints/Drive/Propeller Shaft/Service
and Repair.
d. Tighten nuts and bolts to specifications.
