Removing and installing inner door seal

1 -	Inner door seal

–	Fitted on body flange all around

Removing:

–	To remove, detach from body flange.

q	Installing:

t	Remove A-pillar trim (top and bottom) → Rep. gr.70.

t	Release B-pillar trim (top and bottom) → Rep. gr.70.

t	Release sill panel trim → Rep. gr.70.

t	Remove grab handle and sun visor, and press off headliner in area of seal → Rep. gr.70.

–	Align vulcanised butt joint on seal with lower hinge and press onto vehicle body flange by hand.

Removing and installing outer door seal

t	The complete door seal is bonded on and can only be renewed.

t	The bonding surfaces must be free of dust and grease.

1 -	Outer door seal

Removing:

t	Prior to removal, mark position of seal on door e.g. with adhesive tape.

t	To prevent any residual adhesive from remaining on door, first stretch seal lengthwise and only then pull seal off door.

–	First unclip seal at top and pull slightly off door.

–	Stretch seal lengthwise and then gradually pull off upwards → Anchor.

–	Clean bonding surface; if necessary use adhesive strip remover -VAS 6349- to remove any adhesive residue.

q	Installing:

–	Peel off a section of the protective film on the seal (top).

–	First clip in seal at top.

–	Bond seal on according to markings and press down using roller -3356-.

Marking position of seal

–  Mark position of seal towards bottom, as shown, and towards front on underside of door, using adhesive tape.

Detaching seal   Note By stretching the door seal lengthwise, the adhesive is separated from the door and the seal can be detached from the window frame without leaving any adhesive. –  Gradually stretch door seal -1- lengthwise -arrow-, as shown, and detach. –  Proceeding step-by-step, pull door seal completely off door shell. –  Remove any residual adhesive from window frame with adhesive strip remover -VAS 6349-.

When installing, seal must be pressed on in transition area of inner/outer radius of door shell contour, as shown in detail views -arrows-.

–	Starting at the clip, from the B-pillar downwards and on the underside of the door towards the front, the rear edge of the seal must be positioned at the transition point of the inside radius to the straight section, as shown.

–	Press seal into place all around door shell using roller -3356-.

–	Install seal starting at clip.

–	Fold door seal -2- upwards, as shown in detail view, and press only foot firmly onto door -1- using roller -3356-.
