Removing and installing rear side airbag crash sensor on driver side -G256-
  Note
Contrary to its designation, the rear side airbag crash sensor on driver side -G256- is fitted in the centre of the vehicle.
Removing
  WARNING
t  Heed the safety regulations for pyrotechnic components → Chapter.
t  Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example to unplug the connector), the person concerned must „discharge static“, for instance by briefly grasping hold of the door striker plate.
–  With the ignition switched on, disconnect the battery earth wire → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27.
–  Remove the rear seat bench → Chapter.
   
–  Pull the floor covering -1- forwards in the area of the crash sensor.
  WARNING
Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example to unplug the connector), the person concerned must „discharge static“, for instance by briefly grasping hold of the door striker plate.
–  Pull out the connector locking element -3--arrow-, press down and unplug the connector -4- at the crash sensor.
–  Screw out the bolt -5- and detach the rear crash sensor -2-.
Installing
  WARNING
t  Heed the safety regulations for pyrotechnic components → Chapter.
t  Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example to plug in the connector), the person concerned must „discharge static“, for instance by briefly grasping hold of the door striker plate.
Install in reverse order.
Notes on installation: For example tightening torques, component replacement → Chapter.
