Removing and installing front side airbag with igniter N199/N200
Removing and installing front side airbag with igniter -N199-/-N200-
Side airbag igniter on driver side -N199-/side airbag igniter on front passenger side -N200-
Removing
  WARNING
t  Heed the safety regulations for pyrotechnic components → Chapter.
t  Heed the additional safety regulations for side airbags → Chapter.
t  Heed the disposal regulations for pyrotechnic components → Chapter.
–  Remove the front seat → Chapter.
–  Attach the front seat to the seat repair stand -VAS 6136- → Chapter.
–  Remove the cover for the backrest fitting on the left and right → Chapter.
–  Equipment version with lumbar support: Remove the lumbar support knob → Chapter.
–  Remove the trim for the backrest release mechanism → Chapter.
–  Lay bare the continuous side airbag wiring harness from the connector point to the side airbag → Chapter.
   
–  Detach the padding from the backrest in the area of the side airbag until the bolt -6- for the side airbag is accessible:
t  Standard seat → Chapter.
t  Sports seat → Chapter.
t  Super sports seat → Chapter.
Standard seat:
–  Screw out the bolt -6-.
–  Disengage the side airbag -5- with the hooks -2, 3, 4- from the backrest frame and detach whilst guiding the side airbag wiring harness -1-.
Sports seat and Super sports seat:
–  In the area of the side airbag, carefully pull the backrest cover with backrest padding forwards as far as possible.
–  Screw out the bolt -6-.
–  Disengage the side airbag -5- with the hooks -2, 3, 4- from the backrest frame whilst guiding the side airbag wiring harness -1-.

–  Disengage the side airbag -3- with the hooks from the pouch -2- stitched into the backrest cover and remove downwards whilst guiding the side airbag wiring harness -1-.
Installing
Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:
  WARNING
t  Heed the safety regulations for pyrotechnic components → Chapter.
t  Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example to plug in the connector), the person concerned must „discharge static“, for instance by briefly grasping hold of the door striker plate.
t  Heed the measures to be taken when fitting the front seat → Chapter.
Notes on installation: For example tightening torques, component replacement → Chapter.
