Removing
  WARNING
t  Heed the safety regulations for pyrotechnic components → Chapter.
t  Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example to unplug the connector), the person concerned must „discharge static“, for instance by briefly grasping hold of the door striker plate.
–  Remove the front seat → Chapter.
–  Attach the front seat to the seat repair stand -VAS 6136- → Chapter.
–  Remove the trim on the sill panel side → Chapter.
–  Remove the cover for the backrest fitting → Chapter.
   
–  Unplug the connectors of the wiring harnesses -3- to the seat backrest and lay bare the disconnected wiring harnesses → Chapter.
  Note
There is a continuous wiring harness between the connector point and the side airbag.
–  Fold the seat backrest forwards.
–  Equipment version with easy entry facility: Disengage the support bracket -1- of the Bowden cable for the easy entry facility from the holder at the seat pan frame -arrow-.
–  Equipment version with easy entry facility: Disengage the Bowden cable -4- for the easy entry facility at the backrest fitting.
–  Screw out the bolt -2- at the backrest fitting on the left and right.
–  Detach the backrest from the seat pan. To do so, carefully pull the wiring harness for the side airbag and - depending on equipment version - all other wiring harnesses to the backrest out of the seat pan.
Installing
  WARNING
t  Heed the safety regulations for pyrotechnic components → Chapter.
t  Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example to plug in the connector), the person concerned must „discharge static“, for instance by briefly grasping hold of the door striker plate.
t  Heed the measures to be taken when fitting the front seat → Chapter.
Install in reverse order.
