Removing and installing backrest cover with backrest padding - Super sports seat
Removing and installing backrest cover with backrest padding - Super sports seat
   
Removing
  WARNING
t  Heed the safety regulations for pyrotechnic components → Chapter.
t  Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example to unplug the connector), the person concerned must „discharge static“, for instance by briefly grasping hold of the door striker plate.
–  Remove the front seat → Chapter.
–  Attach the front seat to the seat repair stand -VAS 6136- → Chapter.
–  Remove the lumbar support knob → Chapter.
–  Remove the backrest cover panel -3- → Chapter.
–  Remove the backrest → Chapter.
–  Unfasten the zips -5- of the backrest cover.

–  Disengage the retaining straps -1, 3- at the bottom of the backrest frame -2-.
–  Disengage the backrest cover zips at the backrest fitting and pull the backrest cover with backrest padding forwards.

–  Detach the padding from the backrest until the bolt -3- for the side airbag -1- can be screwed out. To so so, carefully pull the backrest cover with backrest padding forwards as far as possible in the area of the side airbag.
–  Screw out the bolts -3-.
–  Unfasten the holder for the side airbag wire -4- at the backrest frame.
–  Press -arrow A- the side airbag -1- upwards and disengage it from the backrest frame.
–  Take the side airbag downwards out of the pouch -2- stitched into the backrest cover and re-engage in the backrest frame.

–  Press the release button -1- at the head restraint guide and lift the head restraint -3- with backrest padding and backrest cover out of the head restraint guides -arrow-.
–  Lift the backrest cover with backrest padding -2- and head restraint off the backrest frame whilst guiding the backrest heating wiring harness.
Installing
  WARNING
t  Heed the safety regulations for pyrotechnic components → Chapter.
t  Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example to plug in the connector), the person concerned must „discharge static“, for instance by briefly grasping hold of the door striker plate.
t  Heed the measures to be taken when fitting the front seat → Chapter.
Install in reverse order.
Notes on installation: For example tightening torques, component replacement → Chapter.
