Removing and installing mounting bracket with clutch master cylinder Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Hose clamps, up to 25 mm -3094-

t  Sealing tool -T10249-

Removing –  Remove air cleaner housing → Injection and glow plug system; Rep. gr.23.   Note t  In the following steps make sure that no brake fluid escapes onto the longitudinal member or onto the gearbox below. If this does happen, clean the affected area thoroughly.

t  Place a cloth underneath to catch escaping brake fluid. –  Using hose clamp -3094-, clamp off supply hose to clutch master cylinder. –  Disconnect supply hose from clutch master cylinder and plug hose using sealing tool -T10249/1-.

–  Release retaining clip -2- with a screwdriver and disconnect pipe/hose assembly -3- from clutch master cylinder. –  Unclip clutch position sender -G476--arrows A, B- and place it to one side with electrical connector attached.   Note -Item 1- can be disregarded.

–  Remove dash panel trim (driver's side) → General body repairs, interior; Rep. gr.70.

–  Remove bolt -arrow- and detach crash bar.   Note

When working in the footwell, put cloths on the floor covering to protect it from possible brake fluid spills. –  Remove nuts -1, 2-. –  Remove mounting bracket -3- with clutch master cylinder. Installing Installation is carried out in reverse sequence; note the following: l  Tightening torques → Chapter „Exploded view - pedal cluster, clutch master cylinder“   Note Renew self-locking nuts. –  Push supply pipe onto connection on clutch master cylinder so that retaining clip snaps into place. –  Pull on pipe to check it is secure. –  Bleed clutch system → Chapter. –  Install clutch position sender -G476- → Chapter. –  Install dash panel trim (driver's side) → General body repairs, interior; Rep. gr.70. –  Install air cleaner housing → Injection and glow plug system; Rep. gr.23.
