1 - Dual-mass flywheel
q   Removing and installing → Engine, mechanics; Rep. gr.13
q   Ensure that dowel pins fit tightly
q   Contact surface for clutch lining must be free of grooves, oil and grease
q   Observe instructions for removal → Fig.
2 - Clutch plate
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
q   Always renew clutch pressure plate as well
q   Installation position → Fig.
q   For diameter of clutch plate, refer to → Electronic parts catalogue
3 - Pressure plate
q   With adjustment mechanism
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
q   Checking ends of diaphragm spring → Fig.
q   Checking spring connections and rivets → Fig.
q   Always renew clutch plate as well
q   For correct version, refer to → Electronic parts catalogue
4 - Bolt
q   Loosen and tighten bolts consecutively in steps of 90°
q   M6: 13 Nm
q   M7: 20 Nm

l  Marking „Getriebeseite“ (gearbox side) faces towards gearbox

Checking ends of diaphragm spring
l  Wear up to half the thickness of the diaphragm spring -arrows- is permissible.
  Note
If required, clutch pressure plate and clutch plate must always be renewed together. Select the correct clutch plate and clutch pressure plate according to engine code → Electronic parts catalogue.

Checking spring connections and rivets
–  Check spring connections between clutch pressure plate and cover for cracks and make sure rivet fastenings are seated tightly.
l  Renew clutch pressure plate if spring connections are damaged or rivets are loose -arrows-.
  Note
If required, clutch pressure plate and clutch plate must always be renewed together. Select the correct clutch plate and clutch pressure plate according to engine code → Electronic parts catalogue.

Instructions for removing dual-mass flywheel
  Caution
Take care not to damage dual-mass flywheel.
t  Remove bolts -B- by hand. Do not use a pneumatic wrench or impact wrench.
t  When removing bolts, take care that the bolt heads do not come into contact with the dual-mass flywheel.
t  Rotate dual-mass flywheel -A- so that bolts -B- are aligned centrally behind the holes -arrows-.
