t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1331-
t  -1-Internal puller 46 ... 58 mm -Kukko 21/7-
t  -4-Counter-support -Kukko 22/2-

The differential has to be readjusted when the following components are renewed:
t  Gearbox housing
t  Clutch housing
t  Differential cage, or
t  Tapered roller bearings for differential

–  Press tapered roller bearing outer race with shim into clutch housing → Fig..
  Note
Observe installation position of shim; shoulder on inner diameter faces seal.

–  Press tapered roller bearing outer race without shim into the gearbox housing
–  Install differential in clutch housing.
–  Fit gearbox housing and tighten 5 bolts to specified torque → Item and → Item.
–  Press differential towards clutch housing; hold in this position and turn eight times.
–  Press differential towards gearbox housing; hold in this position and turn eight times.

–  Attach dial gauge and set to „0“ with a preload of 1 mm.
A - Dial gauge extension, 30 mm
–  Move differential up and down and note play indicated on dial gauge (in this example: 0.70 mm).
