Renewing oil seals on clutch
  Note
   
The clutch does not have to be adjusted in order to renew the oil seals -arrows- on the clutch.

Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Tube -VW 415 A-
t  Angled ring spanner -T10310-
t  Oil seal extractor -T10420-
t  Thrust piece -T10421-
t  Extractor tool -T20143/2-

Procedure
–  Remove dual clutch → Chapter.
  Caution
Risk of damage to the clutch and other components!
The dual clutch must be renewed if it is contaminated with oil.
   
–  Lever out outer oil seal.

  WARNING
If the oil seal is driven in too deeply, there is a risk that the bearing will run dry.
If the oil seal is driven in too deeply, it will close off the oil drilling underneath, and the bearing will no longer be supplied with sufficient oil.
–  Drive in new outer oil seal with a plastic hammer so it is flush with clutch housing, as shown in illustration.

–  Unscrew spindle of oil seal extractor -T10420-.
–  Screw oil seal extractor into inner oil seal, at the same time pressing down on extractor.
  Note
The extractor clamps the oil seal when it is screwed in. You can feel when the oil seal starts turning in its seat with the extractor.

–  Insert spindle in oil seal extractor -T10420- and pull out oil seal.

–  Drive in new inner oil seal as far as stop using thrust piece -T10421-.
–  Install dual clutch → Chapter.
