Removing and installing gearbox mounting and gearbox support Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Support bracket -10 - 222 A-

t  Adapters -10 - 222 A /19-

t  Engine support bracket, basic set -T40091- Removing –  Remove air cleaner housing → Injection and glow plug system; Rep. gr.23 or → Injection and ignition system; Rep. gr.24.

1.4 ltr. TFSI engine: –  Detach coolant hose -1- from engine cover panel. –  Unscrew bolts -arrows- and detach engine cover panel.

1.4 ltr. TFSI engine with supercharger: –  Pull off engine cover panel (front) -arrows- and remove towards front.

Continued for all vehicles: –  Remove nut -1- and bolt -3- and press electronics box -2- clear to one side.

–  Set up support bracket -10 - 222 A- on top edges of body flanges (left and right) and on longitudinal member (left-side), as shown in illustration. –  Engage hook of spindle -10 - 222 A /11- in engine lifting eye (left-side). –  Take up weight of engine with spindle; do not lift.

–  Remove bolts -arrows- from gearbox mounting. –  Lower engine/gearbox assembly slightly via spindle of support bracket -10 - 222 A-.

–  Remove bolts -arrows A, B, C- and detach gearbox mounting. Installing Installation is carried out in reverse sequence; note the following: l  Tightening torques → Chapter „Exploded view - assembly mountings“   Note Renew bolts which are tightened by turning through a specified angle. –  Bolt gearbox mounting to body -arrows A, B, C-; note tightening torque and sequence → Fig..

–  Pull gearbox up to support arm of gearbox mounting using spindle of support bracket. –  Hand-tighten bolts -arrows- securing gearbox mounting to gearbox support initially. –  Install air cleaner housing → Injection and glow plug system; Rep. gr.23 or → Injection and ignition system; Rep. gr.24. –  Install engine cover panel → Engine, mechanics; Rep. gr.15.
