Removing and installing engine mountings Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Support bracket -10 - 222 A-

t  Hook -10 - 222 A /10-

t  Adapters -10 - 222 A /19-

t  Engine support bracket (basic set) -T40091-

Removing –  Remove engine cover panel -arrows-.

–  Unplug electrical connector -3-. –  Remove bolt -2- and move pressure differential sender -G505- clear to one side.   Note Disregard -item 1-.

–  Release catches -arrows- and pull fuel connection out of guide on coolant expansion tank.

–  Remove bolts -arrows-. –  Detach electrical connector -1- for coolant shortage indicator switch -F66- and move coolant expansion tank to side.

Vehicles without air conditioner: –  Set up support bracket -10 - 222 A- on top edges of body flanges (left and right) and longitudinal member (right-side), as shown in illustration. –  Unbolt bracket for fuel hoses and move to one side together with fuel hoses. –  Attach snap element of hook -10 - 222 A /10- to engine lifting eye. –  Apply light tension to hook.

Vehicles with air conditioning: –  Remove bumper cover → Rep. gr.63. –  Set up support bracket -10 - 222 A- on top edges of body flanges (left and right) and impact bar, as shown in illustration. –  Unbolt bracket for fuel hoses and move to one side together with fuel hoses. –  Attach snap element of hook -10 - 222 A /10- to engine lifting eye. –  Apply light tension to hook.

All vehicles (continued): –  Remove nut -1- and move earth wire clear. –  Remove bolts -arrows-.

WARNING Risk of accident. Do not loosen nut -1- unless renewing engine mounting. –  Remove bolts -arrows- and detach engine mounting with engine support. Installing Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following: l  Tightening torques → Chapter „Assembly mountings - exploded view“   Note Renew the bolts tightened with specified tightening angle.

–  Fit engine mounting on longitudinal member. l  The positioning holes -arrows- must align. If necessary, check with suitable drill bit.

–  Initially screw in bolts -arrows- by hand until they make contact. –  Tighten bolts.   Note Disregard -item 1-.

–  Initially hand-tighten bolts -arrows- for support arm of engine mounting as far as stop. l  The support arm must not turn when you tighten the bolts. –  Tighten bolts.   Note Disregard -item 1-. –  Install pressure differential sender -G505- → Rep. gr.23. –  Install bumper cover → Rep. gr.63.
