Self-diagnosis for convenience system
Initiating self-diagnosis for the convenience system

Test requirements:

  • ◆ Voltage supply and fuses for the relevant systems OK
  • ◆ In order to initiate self-diagnosis, "terminal 15 on" is required (switch on ignition) and the vehicle must be unlocked.

Notes:

  • ◆ If the display remains blank, check voltage supply to V.A.G 1551 according to current flow diagram.

=> "Current Flow Diagrams, Electrical Fault-finding and Fitting Locations" binder

  • ◆ Depending on the program, additional operating information can be printed out by pressing the HELP key of V.A.G 1551.
  • ◆ The ⇒ key is used to continue the with programme sequence.
  • ◆ The PRINT key is used to switch on the printer (indicator lamp in key illuminates).
  • ◆ Connecting fault reader
  • ‒ Switch ignition on.
  • ‒ Switch on printer with the Print key (indicator lamp in key illuminates).
  • ‒ Press key -1- for "Rapid data transfer" operating mode.
 
→ Indicated on display:
Rapid data transfer     HELP
Enter address word XX

Address word for convenience system: 46

  • ‒ Press keys -4- and -6-.
 
→ Display after address word 46 has been entered:

  • ‒ Confirm entry with Q key.

→ Control unit identification V.A.G 1551 for the convenience system central control unit -J393 (convenience unit) is displayed, e.g.:

At this point, it is possible to move on to the option "Rapid data transfer, select function" using the C key.

Note:

  • ◆ In the case of systems without electric rear window lifters, the convenience system central control unit -J393 performs central locking for the rear doors. Accordingly, only the two front door control units are displayed.
