Interrogating control unit version
  • ‒ Connect the fault reader .
  • ‒ Switch ignition on.
  • ‒ Press key -1- for "Rapid data transfer" operating mode.
  • ‒ Switch on printer with the Print key (indicator lamp in key illuminates).
  • ‒ Press keys -0- and -1-.
 
→ Indicated on display:
Rapid data transfer     Q

  • ‒ Confirm entry with Q key.
 
→ Control unit identification for the convenience system central control unit -J393 is displayed on fault reader V.A.G 1551, e.g.:
8Z0959433    Convenience unit    TXX    XXYY

Explanation of the display

  • ◆ 8Z0959433 = part number of control unit (for current control unit version, see parts catalogue)
  • ◆ Convenience unit = system designation
  • ◆ TXX = manufacturer's identification
  • ◆ XXYY = data level
  • ◆ Coding 04672 = coding version
  • ◆ WSC 02313 = workshop code1)

1)Stored automatically in control unit in the event of system intervention.

Note:

  • ◆ In the case of systems without electric rear window lifters, the convenience system central control unit -J393 performs central locking for the rear doors. Accordingly, only the two front door control units are displayed.

Notes:
 
→ If one of the following fault messages appears on the display, the possible causes of the fault can be printed out via the HELP key.

→ Ignition must be switched on.

→ Malfunctions have occurred at the start of or during the program (external sources of fault?).
