Running gear self-diagnosis for ESP, steering
Performing self-diagnosis
Checking of brake pressure solenoid valve, in brake servo -N247
  • ‒ Connect up fault reader V.A.G 1551 and - with ignition switched on - select brake electronics control unit (address word 03).
 
→ Indicated on display:
Rapid data transfer    HELP
Select function XX
  • ‒ Press keys 0 and 4 to select "Starting basic setting" function.
 
→ Indicated on display:
Rapid data transfer    Q
04 - Basic setting
  • ‒ Confirm entry with Q key.
 
→ Indicated on display:
Basic setting    HELP
Enter display group number XXX
  • ‒ Press keys 0, 3 and 1.
  • ‒ Confirm entry with Q key.
  • ‒ ABS warning lamp -K47 flashes.
 
→ Indicated on display:

Solenoid valve    activated
  • ‒ Press key 3.
 
→ Indicated on display:
System in basic setting    32    
-0.63bar    -0.63bar    not pressed

Do not press brake pedal.

  • ‒ Press key 3.

Press and hold pedal ...

Press pedal firmly and hold in position.

Brake lights come on.

If brake lights do not come on:

  • ◆ Brake lights deactivation relay -J508 defective

=> Current Flow Diagrams, Electrical Fault-finding and Fitting Locations binder

  • ◆ Brake detection switch, ESP -F83 defective

=>Test step no. 19

  • ‒ Press key 3.
