Brake Booster/Brake Master Cylinder Assembly Overview

‹› Brake master cylinder and brake boosters can be replaced independently of one another.

‹› For brake booster

‹› Functional check

‹› With engine switched off, depress brake pedal firmly several times (to exhaust vacuum in the unit).

‹› Depress brake pedal with average foot pressure, hold and start engine. If the booster unit is working properly, the pedal will be felt to give

slightly under foot (booster assist becomes effective).

‹› Disconnect from brake pedal => [ Brake Pedal and Brake Booster, Separating ] See: Brake Pedal Assy/Service and Repair/Brake Pedal and

‹› Removing and installing => [ Brake Booster ] See: Power Brake Assist/Vacuum Brake Booster/Service and Repair/Brake Booster

‹› If faulty, replace completely.
