Back Pressure Flap Motor and Potentiometer

Vehicles with automatically regulated A/C system

‹› To the end of model year 2007, the Back Pressure Flap Motor (V71) is being discontinued as a running change, on vehicles without the Back

Pressure Flap Motor (V71) the air flow door (fresh air door) is operated via a curved washer and lever of the Back Pressure Flap (V113) => [
Recirculation Flap Motor ] See: Description and Operation. Therefore note the correct allocation of the Climatronic Control Module (J255)
control head, if the allocation or the adaptation is not OK this is detected during basic setting and stored as a malfunction and Vehicle Diagnosis,
Testing and Information System VAS 5051 under "Guided Fault Finding".

‹› Not installed on vehicles with manually regulated A/C system. Air flow door is not installed on vehicles with a manual climate control system.

‹› Check the motor: Connect both terminals "5" and " 6" in control motor connector to 12 V (DC), the motor moves in one direction until stop, the

direction of rotation changes by interchanging B+ and Ground. Use an adapter cable. Refer to => [ Adapter Cable for Activating Control Motors ]

‹› Perform Basic Setting of A/C system after installing a new control motor. Finding"

‹› Using Guided Fault Finding it is possible to check the control for the A/C electrical components, for example to check for interchanging during the

basic setting."

‹› After installing a new control motor, check activation by A/C control head Climatronic Control Module (J255) and function of control motor

(correct position of back pressure door for recirculating and fresh air mode). Finding"

‹› Air Flow Door Motor (V71) can only be removed without difficulty in "fresh air mode stop" and installed only in this position. If the motor stops

in a different position and can no longer be moved electrically into the "fresh air mode stop", replace it.

Removing

-

Remove the glove compartment.

-

If necessary, switch ignition on, select operating mode " Defrost" on the Climatronic Control Module (J255 ) display and control head (control
motor is always set to fresh air mode position in this operating mode) and wait until control motor has reached its "fresh air mode" end position.

Switch off ignition.

Disengage catches - D - and - E - for bracket - A - on intake housing and remove bracket -  A -.

Remove Air Flow Door Motor (V113) => [ Recirculation Flap Motor ] See: Description and Operation.

Mark connector to Recirculation Door Motor (V113 ) (to rule out an interchange with connector to Air Flow Door Motor (V71)).

Remove positioning motor - A - from air intake shroud.
