Heater and A/C System Controls

Heater controls, Heater Control Module (J65) on vehicles without A/C system

A/C system controls, A/C Control Module (J301) on vehicles with manually regulated A/C system

‹› Heater Control Module (J65) ( A/C Control Module (J301)) - A - is available in different versions (with and without heated seat adjusters (Driver

Heated Seat Adjuster (E94) and Front Passenger Heated Seat Adjuster (E95) - C -).

‹› Beginning with MY 2010, a Start/Stop System is offered as an option on certain engines. The Heater Control Module (J65) has no affect on the

Start/Stop function on vehicles with only a heater (no "A/C"). If the vehicles has a manual climate control system, then, depending on the setting
on the A/C Control Module ( J301) (for example, the heater is on) the Stop function will prevent the engine from being started again as soon as
there is a request for heating. The (J301) Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 under "Guided Fault Finding" does not
limit the Stop function when the cooling mode is on.

‹› There is no additional coolant pump for the Start/Stop System installed on vehicles with Start/Stop System. Depending on the vehicle engine, an

electrical coolant pump may be installed, which is controlled by the engine control module.  Refer to => Testing and Information System VAS
5051 under "Guided Fault Finding".

‹› If the vehicle has a Start/Stop System and manual climate control system, then install A/C Control Module (J301), part number 8P0 820 047,

starting with index "D".

‹› The heater controls (Heater Control Module (J65)) - A - do not have a DTC memory (Guided Fault Finding is not possible) and are not connected

to the CAN-Bus system.

‹› A/C system controls (A/C Control Module (J301)) - A - is equipped with DTC memory (Guided Fault Finding is possible) and connected to the
