Transmission Fluid Level, Checking
Transmission fluid level, checking 02E, 6 Speed Direct Shift FWD A/T
CAUTION:
^
Engine is not to be started if there is little or no oil in the transmission following repair work or severe loss of transmission fluid.
^
In this case, perform a preliminary filling of transmission fluid for direct-shift transmission.
^
Only the replacement part that is indicated as the exclusive transmission fluid for the direct-shift transmission 02E may be used. Other
oils can cause malfunctions or transmission failure.
Test conditions
^
Transmission not in emergency operating mode.
^
Vehicle on a flat surface.
^
Selector lever in "P", let engine run at idle.

Note:
^
The transmission fluid temperature will be read out on the vehicle diagnostic, test and information system VAS 5051 A.
^
The transmission fluid level varies with transmission fluid temperature.
^
Checking transmission fluid level when transmission fluid temperature is too low will result in overfilling.
^
Checking transmission fluid level when transmission fluid temperature is too high will result in underfilling.
^
Over and underfilling lead to impaired functioning of transmission.
