Fluid - A/T: Service and Repair
Transmission Fluid, Adding
Transmission fluid, adding 02E, 6 Speed Direct Shift FWD A/T
Transmission fluid must be added if no transmission fluid escapes via overflow tube - arrow - through the inspection hole, at a temperature between
35°C and 45°C, with engine running:
^
All requirements for transmission fluid inspection must be maintained.
-
Screw adapter for oil filling VAS 6262 hand-tight into opening of inspection plug - B -.
-
Attach hose with funnel to adapter and hold funnel as high as possible over transmission.
-
Via the funnel, start by adding just a small quantity of transmission fluid for direct-shift transmission.
Then check transmission fluid level (several times, if necessary):
-
Detach hose from the adapter for oil filling VAS 6262 and use a clean sealing plug to seal the hose.
The transmission fluid present in the overflow tube - arrow 2 - drains out first.
-
Allow excess transmission fluid to drain off.
The transmission fluid level is correct if a small amount of fluid drips out when the transmission fluid temperature is between 35°C and 45°C (this
occurs as the fluid expands via heating up).
In this case, no transmission fluid must be added; the fluid level is OK.
Note:
^
Every 30 seconds a small surge of oil will come out of the oil level pipe regardless of the oil level (cause: intermittent cooling oil supply to the
clutch). The surge is not to be considered a criteria for the correct oil level and should therefore be disregarded.
^
The discharged transmission fluid must not be refilled again or be re-used. Ensure proper disposal of fluid.
