Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Ball Joint Puller (3287A)

‹› Torque Wrench (VAG 1332)

‹› Engine/Transmission Jack (VAG 1383 A)

‹› Angle Wrench (VAG 1756)

‹› Spreader (3424)

Removing

-

Loosen drive axle threaded connection on the wheel side.

-

Remove drive axle hex combi bolt. Refer to => [ Drive Axle Hex Combination Bolt, Loosening and Tightening ] See: Transmission and
Drivetrain/Drive Axles, Bearings and Joints/Axle Shaft Assembly/Service and Repair/Procedures/Drive Axle Hex Combination Bolt, Loosening
and Tightening.

Remove drive axle twelve-point bolt. Refer to => [ Drive Axle Twelve-Point Bolt, Loosening and Tightening ] See: Transmission and
Drivetrain/Drive Axles, Bearings and Joints/Axle Shaft Assembly/Service and Repair/Procedures/Drive Axle Twelve-Point Bolt, Loosening and
Tightening.

Remove wheel.

-

Remove brake caliper and suspend from body with wire.

-

Remove ABS speed sensor.

-

Remove disc brake.

-

Loosen tie rod end nut, but do not remove yet.

-

Press off tie rod end from wheel bearing housing with ball joint puller (3287A), and then remove nut.

In vehicles with level control system sensor, remove nut -  3 -.
